Convergence is the buzzword of the multimedia world. On one hand, the technology now exists to let you store your multimedia files on a home server and then play them from many different devices inside and outside the home. On the other hand, the entertainment industry is pushing laws and technological limits to the ability to watch the same content on many different devices.
While the legal wrangling continues, early generation products are coming to market. Some of these appliances run Linux, some run Windows Media Center, and some run proprietary setups. One of the Linux-run entertainment appliances on the market today is the Buffalo LinkTheater High-Definition Wireless Media Player.
This model is specifically for those with HDTVs (High Definition Televisions). If you don't have one, you will want to examine the model that is not specially designed for HDTV.
