DistributionWatch Review: Debian GNU/Linux 2.1 - page 9
Introducing Debian GNU/Linux
Support for Debian is available through a number of channels. There are a
number of mailing lists provided for this purpose. The
Mailing List
Subscription page contains the names and descriptions of these lists along
with forms necessary for subscription and unsubscription. There are lists for
both users and developers. Debian users willing to hire people to support their
systems can locate them through the
consultants page. IRC based
help is available from the #debian
channel of the
irc.debian.org
server.
Package-specific e-mail-based support is available either through messages
sent directly to the package maintainers or by means of bug reports. The
Debian People page contains
the names and e-mail addresses of the project participants along with names of
the packages that each maintains. Also, e-mail messages sent to an address of
the form package_name@packages.debian.org will be automatically be
routed to the maintainer of package_name. Bug reports can be submitted
and reviewed using the Debian bug tracking system's
primary web interface or one of its
mirrors in the Netherlands,
Germany or the
United Kingdom.
There is also a Debian package called bug
that provides a local
command interface to the bug tracking system.
